Building products manufacturer Glidevale Protect has established a new collaborative partnership with SBS Cladding, bringing its high-performance fire-rated external wall membranes to SBS’s growing portfolio of façade solutions.
SBS Cladding, a specialist distributor and fabricator of rainscreen and architectural cladding systems, delivers tailored façade solutions to contractors, for commercial and residential projects across the UK. As part of this extensive product portfolio, SBS Cladding can now offer Glidevale Protect’s Protect FrameSafe FR fire-rated external wall membrane and its unbranded Protect FrameSafe 5000 FR version which has been designed for open façade cladding applications. Both products are designed to integrate with façade wall structures on low, medium and high rise buildings over 11m or 18m.
Protect FrameSafe FR is a high-performance, flame-retardant breather membrane that delivers excellent water resistance and vapour permeability. Fully independently fire tested to achieve a Class A2-s1, d0 to EN 13501-1, both free hanging material and fixed over A1 and A2 substrates, the membrane supports specifiers and contractors to exceed Building Regulations compliance on buildings where an enhanced reaction to fire performance is required, including those higher risk buildings covered by the Building Safety Act. Alongside its Class A2-s1, d0 fire classification, the membrane features a robust, high-performance glass fibre construction, incorporating a fire resistant and waterproof coating. This ensures high UV stability and exposure up to six months prior to the installation of the cladding system, providing greater flexibility during the build process.
Manufactured only with printed lap lines and with no logos to the external face of the membrane to improve the architectural aesthetic of an open jointed façade, Protect FrameSafe 5000 FR is an unbranded version of standard Protect FrameSafe FR. It achieves the same Class A2-s1, d0 reaction to fire rating. Protect FR sealing tape is available for both membranes to secure laps and to ensure a Class A2 reaction to fire when used in a system application.
