Shrewsbury & Telford Hospitals NHS Trust (SaTH) needed to relieve pressure on the existing Accident and Emergency department at the Royal Shrewsbury Hospital by introducing a Same Day Emergency Care (SDEC) facility with at least 10 assessment/ treatment bays as well as separate administration areas.

To facilitate flow of patients the new SDEC was needed within close proximity to the existing Major and Minor incident departments. SaTH needed a delivery partner who would collaborate on design development and then deliver a complete ‘Turnkey’ solution as Principal Contractor from site possession to practical completion including sub structure, super structure & internal/ external finishes. Having previously delivered the Midwife Lead Unit at the Trusts other hospital, the Princess Royal Hospital Telford Catfoss were approached to develop a modular solution to answer this requirement and also design bespoke office and seminar space in the administration area. The delivered 520Sqm HTM/HBN compliant 2-storey scheme answering this specification was commissioned and completed in 4 months after instruction to Catfoss, with the Trust taking possession in December 2020.
