Project Overview

Uponor supplied multi-layer composite (MLC) piping for the apartment modules at 100a George Street, Croydon. Known as Ten Degrees, this is currently the largest modular apartment building in the world with two towers of 38 and 44 storeys, with 1,2 and 3 bedroom apartments.

Awarded to supply pipes for the domestic water system, Uponor worked closely with the modular manufacturer to find the most efficient and cost effective solution. Uponor’s design engineers studied the designs and advised on the most suitable products and system layout that delivered cost savings and a quality end product for the client and resident. Large scale, prestigious projects like this require quality assurance and guaranteed performance, as mistakes can be very costly. The Uponor MLC pipe is trusted as a leak proof, hygienic system with industry leading flexibility and a fast install time. The press fit system used allows visual evidence of joint security via an observation window guaranteeing a robust connection every time. Traceability can also be an important factor on large-scale projects. Uponor’s products are date stamped and numbered to ensure that items can be tracked back to the point of manufacture and specific material details. Uponor provided full on-site installation training including tools to the contractors’ employees to ensure the pipework and manifolds were installed correctly, efficiently and safely. Once completed, each module was pressure tested using air to ensure that each installation was assembled correctly.
