Finland-based Hyperion Robotics, known for its 3D-printed reinforced concrete structures, is planning to set up a manufacturing facility in the UK.

Hyperion Robotics is currently evaluating locations in the Midlands and the north of England for its first UK facility, which will also serve as the company’s headquarters for northern European operations.

The Helsinki-based startup uses 3D printing technology to produce Eurocode-compliant reinforced concrete structures.

“Establishing a presence in the UK is a natural next step for us as we continue to grow across Europe,” said chief executive Fernando De los Rios. “With over £700bn in planned infrastructure projects over the next decade, we see a tremendous opportunity to bring our sustainable solutions to the forefront of the UK’s construction industry. Our technology not only delivers significant reductions in emissions and costs but also provides our clients with seamless integration, making it easier than ever to adopt next-generation construction methods.”

Hyperion’s leadership team already includes strong UK representation: its vice president of operations is former Keltbray managing director John Price, while former Kier managing director Barry McNicholas serves as an advisor.

The company’s UK expansion comes on the heels of several projects across Europe, where it has collaborated with major organisations such as Iberdrola, Yorkshire Water, and Mott MacDonald Bentley on schemes ranging from energy plant foundations to water treatment facilities.
